Our Farmlands
We like to educate our customers as to where and how food is grown and try to make sure that everyone has access to good fresh food and produce.
The family property that produces Studio Farm's products is actually three separate farms.
Stonyledge Farm is located at 107 Kuehn Road in Hopkinton, RI. All 103 acres of the farm are in North Stonington but you have to drive into Rhode Island to enter the driveway. The Wingates' daughter, Belinda, and her husband Ed Learned have owned Stonyledge Farm since 1992 and have watched their children grow up there. Stonyledge Farm has a lovely pond, stone walls throughout, but is mostly woodland. About 40 acres are used for pastures and gardens.
In February, 2007, Belinda and Ed were provided with the opportunity to purchase a vacant dairy farm located at 58 East Clarks Falls Road (the former Bill Farm). Valley View Farm came with a large dairy barn, several pastures, as well as a 23-acre field, 115 acres in total.
Valley View Farm is located in North Stonington, CT, and is managed by their sons, Ben and Tim. They have been awarded the 2017 Dairy Farm of Distinction for the New England region by their milk marketing co-op, Dairy Farmers of America. This award is based on the exceptional quality of milk produced, daily care and comfort of the dairy animals, and use of technology in managing herd health, milk quality and performance.
The beef herd is pastured on the hillside overlooking the dairy.
Studio Farm, owned by Dick and Dot Wingate, is located on Rt. 49 in Voluntown and has 34 acres of land—6 acres are tillable and the remainder is woodland. Studio Farm has a farmstand during the summer and autumn months where you may purchase vegetables, eggs, and honey as well as homemade jellies, jams, and much more from our kitchen. (For large selection of products, please call us or find us at one of the farmers' markets.)
